These men exemplify the oft repeated saying, “Managers are not born managers “. They epitomise all the characteristics of an ideal manager, which is highly evident in the revolutions they led and managed. These were the men who rose to the occasion when adversity knocked on their doors and not only did they achieve what they set out to do; they also rewrote history in the process. They were managers in the true sense of the term.

Sitting in an air conditioned ivory tower, smoking Havana cigars, supervising the faceless toiling multitude, just like an inanimate piece of company machinery. Does that point a stark enough stereotype of the average highly successful manager? Think again. We see managers in every sphere of life, in a lot less exemplified examples – the mother-multitasking day in and day out, the student-juggling sports, pocket money, academics.
We, at WTB, look for people who do not conform to the stereotype. 9 cases out of 10, standing your ground, tact, diligence and thinking out of the box these are a few things that make a successful manager. ‘Who’s The Boss’ – the management event of AXIS ’09 – adapts this very ideology in an attempt to find the best manger in a series of rounds that tests the ability to manage resources, deliver in crunch situations, take real time critical decisions and finally , work in and lead a team to victory.
After all, “A leader is one who follows in front”.
