Even modern day writers of the likes of Michael Crichton and Robert Ludlum have made invaluable contributions to the world of science fiction. Isn't it every young man's dream to do a Star Trek and ride out into space to fight evil aliens or do the bucking bronco? Think about it. Nowadays one can see science fiction at every nook and corner. Harry Potter and LOTR stand testament to this fact. Even Stan Lee and his comic books can be considered to be major proponents of science fiction worldwide. The X-Men and The Avengers are now synonymous with childhood fantasies. You need not look further than our country to see science fiction in its pristine form with Shaktimaan and Sabu being major celebrities not very long ago.
Science fiction is no more than an extension of one's imagination beyond the boundaries of general perception. AXIS'09 encourages creativity in all forms and invites participants to submit their own sci-fi creations. So grab a pen and be prepared to throw caution to the likes of Darth Vader and Skeletor.
