Imagine yourself in the following situation, “You drive around in a car that hardly cost you Rs.5000. Its maintenance doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket, because it gives you 1000 km to the litre. Waiting for your microwave to heat your food for even 5 seconds seems like an eternity. You pay your electric board for the cheap, abundant and eco-friendly electricity with your pocket change. Starvation and drought are mere history lessons in schools and colleges.” Sounds futuristic? Think this is a direct extract from a very corny sci-fi movie? Actually, this could have been a very plausible scenario in the current generation, had all the other scientists kept up with the pace of the progress that Computer Technology has made in the last 3 decades. And it has had a very important role to play in the transition from ‘The Machine Age ‘to the ‘E – Age’. We need not look further than our gadget-filled vicinity to satisfy ourselves regarding this theory.
We, at AXIS ’09 acknowledge and appreciate this fact, but we staunchly believe in the phrase, “Man is the best computer”, and it is this belief that drives us to challenge the programmer to think out-of-the-box, in CYPHER.
